IF WE KNOW CHRIST, THEN IT SHOULD BE EVIDENT TO OTHERS.
SCRIPTURE | 1 Kings 10:1-10
CENTRAL TRUTH
Every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17). When we realize this and surrender those gifts back to God, then He can use them to draw others to Himself.
KEY QUESTION
WHAT ARE SOME WAYS GOD HAS BLESSED YOU? HOW CAN YOU USE THOSE BLESSINGS TO POINT OTHERS TO HIM?
KEEP IN MIND
Some students may wonder how God could delight in them. When we say that God delights in us, we mean that He deeply loves us; He longs to save us; He desires to give us good gifts; He cares for us. In essence, it means that God is absolutely for us. Students who have ever felt like God didn’t feel this way about them have allowed the enemy to feed them a lie. But every move God has made throughout human history says otherwise. He delighted in them so much that He allowed His Son to suffer to redeem them. He still delights in them; their very existence stirs His heart to love. When students question their worth to the Lord, encourage them to look at the evidence in Scripture. It’s undeniably there.
APPLICATION
WHAT NEEDS TO CHANGE ABOUT YOUR REPUTATION SO THAT PEOPLE ARE DRAWN TO CHRIST?
THE WIN
FOR THE STUDENT: Sometimes, students need God to humble them and help them repair their reputations. They may need Him to convict them of where they’ve gone wrong and help them to walk a better way. Our students will make mistakes, but they don’t have to stay in them. Their reputations can point people to Christ.
FOR THE LEADER: As leaders, we can live in such a way that draws people to us, not because of worldly success or popularity, but because they see or hear something different than what they see or hear in the world. This week, consider how your lifestyle either draws people to Christ in you or pushes them away.
