Ep. 50. Does God help those who help themselves?

December 31, 2018 | Aaron Armstrong

Over the last several centuries, there are a few clichés that have crept into our vocabulary—and into our worldview as believers. But are these clichés or truisms really true? Brian and Aaron start a new series on the podcast exploring some of the most common clichés, looking at what can be commended and what should be challenged in each, and, ultimately, whether they draw us toward Christ or away from Him. In this episode, we’re exploring the saying, “God helps those who help themselves.” Listen in to hear:
  • The origins of this saying
  • Where do we see some degree of biblical validity to it
  • A very brief overview of the worldview of Deism
  • How the gospel offers us something greater than this truism provides

Good discussion! Here’s another one of those truisms. “You gotta love yourself.” By our sinful human nature, we already love ourselves. I will enjoy hearing what you have to say. Thanks!
