Meet Maegan and Jesse

July 15, 2024 | Suzanne Burnett

“That story is too hard for preschoolers!”

This is one of the biggest misconceptions that hinders people from teaching God’s Word to preschoolers. But Maegan Hall, the talent behind The Gospel Project for Preschoolers videos, has a distinct perspective. For nearly 30 years, Maegan has been using puppetry and ventriloquism to help teach kids the truth of the Bible. Each week, Maegan and her puppet-friend Jesse introduce videos to preschoolers in an energetic way. After these intros, Maegan delivers the Bible stories in a way that captivates preschoolers’ hearts and minds.

Maegan wants preschoolers to feel like they are safe and they can trust what she is saying. “There is so much prayer that goes into each video shoot,” she said. “I can feel burdened by the weight of communicating the gospel, but I do it with joy because of the hope I have in Jesus.”

The goal of The Gospel Project for Preschoolers is to make life connections that engage preschoolers with the Creator. Maegan knows it is likely preschoolers are hearing some of these Bible stories for the first time and that preschoolers learn through play. By partnering play and creativity with the Bible, these videos help set preschoolers up for life-changing encounters with God’s Word.

“God calls us to be faithful, but the Holy Spirit does the work,” said Maegan. Sometimes that means we might do a silly dance or wear a funny hat, but God takes our willingness to teach His Word and multiplies it in ways we may never see.
