Unless you live a very peculiar kind of life, Exaltation is a word we don’t use much at all in everyday conversation. But if you are a Christian, you do benefit from it every day.

Exaltation means to lift someone up, or to elevate them in status. In other words, it is the opposite of humiliation, which means to put someone to shame. And where Jesus’s death on the cross was the ultimate example of humiliation, His resurrection from the dead is the first and a glorious example of Christ’s exaltation. Christ was exalted when God raised Him from the dead.

But the resurrection only speaks to one of the ways He was and will be exalted. When Christ ascended, or returned, to His position at the Father’s right hand, he was exalted to the position of honor and power. He was, effectively, declared king of all creation. And when Jesus returns, He will be exalted by all creation. 

All of these aspects work together to magnify the glory and worth of Christ, resulting in the praise of the glory of His grace in rescuing sinners.
