Where did everything come from? Was it always just here? Or did something, or Someone, make it? Let’s explore the answer to this question by learning what the Bible reveals about how the world and everything in it was made.                                                                                                      

The Bible describes the world as being created out of nothing by God. If you’ve ever heard or read the Latin phrase, Creation ex nihilo, that’s what it means: Creation from nothing.

Before God made anything, there was nothing. Every single thing— from the giant stars and planets, both near and far, to the smallest particles our eyes cannot see, everything that is living and unliving —all of it was made without any preexisting materials. 

God spoke everything that is into existence, bringing it forth out of nothingness. So what does this mean for us? 

1. It means that everything in the universe is finite. It all has a beginning, and it all has an ending. 
2. It means that it matters. All of creation has value because God made it. 
3. It means that creation has a purpose: to point us to its Creator, who alone is uncreated and infinite, with no beginning and no end. The eternal God, who rules over all creation with absolute authority and kindness. He is the One creation points to, and He is the One we are called to worship and obey.
