Jesus will return for us one day and will end sin and death once and for all.
Scripture: Revelation 19:6-9, 11-16; 20:11-15
Central Truth
When Christ returns to judge all rebellion, He will come in His fullness and His appearance will spark fear in the hearts of those who have rejected Him. But believers will join Christ in His victory.
Key Question
How does reading about Jesus’s judgment of sin affect your view of sin?
Keep in Mind
Our culture takes sin very lightly. In fact, culture hardly recognizes it. These passages have a message for us concerning how seriously God takes sin, and this is a message we want our students to understand.
Here we see that sin leads to total separation from God. While believers are covered by Christ’s righteousness and their names appear in the book of life, they should still strive to crucify the sinful nature. Encourage your students to ask this question: Why would we want any part of sin if it only creates distance from our Father? Knowing Christ will destroy sin in the end should motivate us to make godly decisions and make us view sin as God views it.
APPLICATION
What steps can you take today to prepare yourself to be the bride of Christ (Rev. 19:7)?
THE WIN
FOR THE STUDENT: When students obey God’s Word and listen to the Holy Spirit’s leading, they are preparing for the moment when they’ll join Him in the wedding banquet. Our obedience, which should overflow from hearts of gratitude, helps us be ready to meet the Groom. Students can get in the Word; spend time in prayer; and seek godly friends and mentors
FOR THE LEADER: As leaders, we’re preparing too. We’ll see Jesus’s face one day. We are sanctified and made more like the Son through the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It’s important that we draw near to God and listen to His voice.
