When Jesus returns, He will make all things new and live with His people forever.
Scripture: Revelation 21:1-5, 22-27; 22:1-5
Central Truth
God will live and walk in harmony with His creation once again, just as God walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. He longs to walk with us for the rest of eternity in a world that functions the way He always intended.
Key Question
How will God dwelling with us in heaven be entirely different from the way He dwelled among humans in the past?
Keep in Mind
A reality some people don’t want to face is that not all people will experience peace in eternity. There truly will be a separation from God which unbelievers will experience. As you discuss heaven, you’ll want to focus on what awaits believers, but it’s important to also discuss what awaits those who never place their trust in Christ.
We always want to be mindful of not using scare tactics to convince students to pray the prayer of salvation. Instead, we want to encourage honest questions and answer with biblical truth. And we want to allow the Holy Spirit to convict our students and draw them into an authentic, saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
APPLICATION
How can these passages help you live with joy and anticipation?
THE WIN
FOR THE STUDENT: God’s people should be the most joyful people on earth. We can’t fully understand what heaven will be like, but we have enough of a glimpse in God’s Word that we can know it will be perfect. Our students can endure all struggles here and look forward in anticipation of the joy they’ll experience for all eternity!
FOR THE LEADER: The day we get to experience God’s kingdom in its fullness is almost incomprehensible in the here and now. But it’s coming. And we get to help others go there with us! Rejoice in that truth!
