Most SEO companies are now involved in the article strategy, which involves posting several different articles around the same keywords on several different domains and linking them back to their main site.  Google is looking for quality writing in these articles, which makes it difficult to produce a lot of content really fast.  If you are looking for ways to come up with new content or to stretch your current content, there are a few little traffic directing tips that could help you boost your search engine ranking, your traffic, and your readership.

Slide Show Articles

You may have noticed a new trend in articles lately, especially on well-known sites.  Instead of putting the entire article on one page, they have you click through it in the form of a slideshow.  Not only does this allow you to use more pictures and break your article up into smaller digestible pieces, but it makes readers click more links and visit more pages.  You can have different ads and other content all around each segment, multiplying that article’s benefits.  So instead of one reader going to one of your webpages, they now have to visit ten separate webpages in order to finish your article on the Top 10 SEO Strategies.  These are great for how-to articles with several steps or advice articles with multiple tips.

Another way to get readers to go from one page to the next is to tease them with further information they will need to go on to the next level of understanding or the next stage of the process.  You might tell them in your first article for example where to buy the best home décor supplies.  At the end of the article though, you will provide a link and a description to go to the next article about choosing the best décor for your particular room.  After that, you might write an article explaining how to install a particular piece of décor.  There are many different levels that you could potentially lead the reader through, either now or later when they decide to move on to the next step.   Obviously, you’ll want to give them an RSS feed to subscribe to as well.  That way, they are alerted when the next article has been posted.  These strategies will keep traffic flowing through your site.

Link Drop on Others’ Articles

Another way to bring traffic to your article sites is by visiting the articles of other companies.  While you probably shouldn’t be perusing the articles of competing sites, you can go to slightly related sites without hurting your own business.  Once there though, scroll to the bottom of the article and look for a comments section.  Join in the discussion happening there and be sure to drop your link at the end of the comment.  Don’t simply leave the link alone though, otherwise that could be considered link spamming.  Instead, you might say something like, “I really enjoyed this article.  In my article, Insert Title Here, I also discuss this but I focus on…check it out!”  Hopefully, you’ll get the writer of the article to check out your take on the topic and even better, you’ll be able to direct a few of their readers your way as well.

Rewrite News Articles

If the only thing stopping you from getting more traffic is coming up with new content, there is an easy fix for that.  Focus on writing news stories about the most current news related to your industry.  Within these articles you can embed keyword links back to your main website and use the news stories themselves to spur people to believe they need or want your products or services.  In order to find the stories, just search your keyword phrases in Google and then click the News filter.

You will get pages and pages of news articles with those keywords in them.  Then, simply read and rewrite them in your own words.  Plus, there will be more current news every week for new potential topics.  If your source is from a big news organization, be sure to link back to the original article so you can reap the benefits of that high-ranking connection.

Social Media Teasers

After getting all of those great articles published on your many domains, don’t forget to advertise them.  By doing some strategic article marketing on websites like social media networks, you can attract a lot of traffic and hopefully, subscribers.  For the best results, post an enticing picture related to your article, the clever title you chose, and then the first sentence of it.  If you wrote your article using best writing practices, that first line should be enough to hook readers so that they want to click and read more.  You could also post your link with a question teasing potential readers to check out the article.

If you are writing about women’s health issues for example, your post might ask, “Are you tired of losing weight the old fashioned way?” implying that your article will tell them some new way that makes losing weight easier or more effective.  Just make your ads tempting enough to click, and you’ll get more traffic, a higher ranking, and a lot more readers.
